Transition between year groups and key stages 

In the last two weeks of the summer term, all classes have a fortnight of ‘Early Promotion’ where pupils move into their new classroom and meet their new class teacher. During this time the whole school focuses on the same book and carries out transitional activities linked to the text. This also gives pupils an opportunity to learn new class routines and get to know the staff who will be working with them. The aim of this process is to alleviate any anxieties or concerns pupils may have about returning to school after the six week summer break.  

In some cases additional transition time will be allocated throughout the summer term to those pupils who may find transition difficult.  

Year 6 pupils, who are going to Kenton School, receive one transition week where they attend lessons and meet their new form class.
